Straight razors are staging a comeback. With a
single investment, a well-made and well-cared-
for straight razor can supply two lifetimes' worth
of shaving and a close enough shave to allow for
skipping days. But the learning curve for straight
razor shaving is steep and you can't assume
your customers know the risks involved. "Tell
them to practice by putting shaving cream on an
infl ated balloon, and then trying to shave it clean
without the balloon popping," advises David
Serrano, who heads up the men's department
for Perma Brands, a distributor for top shaving
tool brands Dovo and Merkur. "They'll have to
go slowly to do it—it should take about 20 to
30 minutes."
